The perfect dupe?! Clarins’ Beauty Flash Balm’ Vs Soap and Glory ‘Bright here-‘Bright Now’

I am now fast approaching 30 (ouch!) and I am after that youthful glow that came to me oh so naturally before aging and sleepless nights prevailed!!!  One of my favourite products to achieve a beautiful glow and well rested look is Clarins ‘Beauty Flash Balm’ I am probably delayed in my ravings about this product as I know it is a all-time classic favourite of makeup artists, beauty gurus and bloggers…. But I will give you my two pence worth anyway!

Clarins Beauty Balm

RRP £29.00 PER 50ML

What Clarins say…

“The ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin—Clarins best-selling radiance booster helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash! Instantly moisturises, brightens and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed. Olive and Witch Hazel extracts help smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the look of lines and wrinkles. Soothing Bisabolol helps restore skin’s youthful glow. Preps skin for perfect make-up application and hours of luminous wear.”

The product comes in a squeezy tube (like tooth paste!) and retails at a rather high (imo) £29.00 for 50ml. Upon application the product is a lightweight creamy texture in a pale yellowish shade which turns transparent as you spread across the surface of your face. The idea of this product is to ‘spread’ rather than rub into your skin, I do this over my usual moisturiser as for my dry skin (especially in winter) beauty balm would not be moisturising enough, I find it sits brilliantly on top of my moisturiser and adds the radiance boost it promises in fact I would go as far as saying I look fresh and awake!! I tend to use a lightweight foundation over this product so the glow can shine through, I find the Beauty Balm almost works as a primer and my foundations sits beautifully on top of it. My sensitive spot prone skin has never had any reaction to this product and it leaves my skin feeling like it’s been pampered (you can use this also as a face mask which I am yet to try!)

So I love it but the price is a small downfall although you only need a small amount so the product does last I decided to shop around and see if I could find an alternative for every day wear.

Soap and Glory-Bright Here-Bright Now

RRP £8.00 PER 50ML

What Soap and Glory say….

“Instant Radiance Energy Boost Balm lifts, energises, tightens and brightens – making dull skin simply dazzle.”

So this product comes very similar packaging to the Clarins but is even more tooth paste like!! The texture is slightly runnier and under light a little more glittery but by no means over the top. I use this product as I do the beauty balm over the top of my moisturiser, and spreading over the skin rather than rubbing in. I again use a foundation over the top of this moisturiser but I tend to give this a little more time to settle on to the skin before applying foundation so that it doesn’t cause flakiness (I can apply foundation instantly after Beauty Balm) This again gives me a lovely glow that shines through a lightweight foundation.  I have had no reaction to this and it hasn’t caused me any breakout which means I use it daily as a ‘primer’ under my foundation for work without worrying about the price tag- it’s a real steal!

Conclusion

In conclusion I would say that Clarins Beauty balm is still my favourite out of the pair but only just! I find the Beauty Balm makes my skin feel cared for and almost like Ive had a facial whereas the Bright here-Bright now just does the job it’s there to do but is a great every day alternative at just £8!
